In this webinar, Steve de Voogd of Forest Fire Management Victoria will outline quality assurance processes for prescribed burning implemented by the department and share insights into their value.
In October 2015 a prescribed burn breached control lines in Lancefield, Victoria. Investigations and reviews recommended improved systems to ensure quality control throughout burn planning, approval and delivery. As a result, the Department of Environment, Land Water and Planning (now known as Forest Fire Management Victoria) is implementing specific quality assurance processes within the prescribed burn program including:
- Peer review embedded in burn planning and approval processes
- A state-wide process to peer review the quality and effectiveness of burn plan documentation, to improve standards, systems and procedures
- An observation and feedback system to support staff with professional development and to reinforce a safety-based culture.
This webinar will be presented by Steve de Voogd from Forest Fire Management Victoria.
