2024 Resilient Australia Awards national finalists announced

Now in its 25th year, the annual Resilient Australia Awards honours initiatives by communities, organisations and individuals that are taking action to reduce disaster risk and build resilience.

The Resilient Australia Awards national finalists for 2024 will be awarded across 10 award categories – National, Collaboration and Partnerships, Research for Impact, Community, School, Government, Local Government, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Photography – and include representation from every state and territory.

Winners will be announced at the National Awards Ceremony in Canberra on 20 November 2024 at 12.30pm (AEDT). The event will be livestreamed.

Sustainability, science and innovation are strong themes across this year’s award program with the introduction of the Research for Impact Award. This new category recognises research that is having or will have a significant impact on disaster resilience knowledge, capability and practice.

Finalists across all categories have made significant efforts to reduce disaster risk at the national and local level, from addressing climate resilience to boosting community engagement, and improvements to infrastructure, inclusive practices and collaboration.

Each of these initiatives is another step towards a more disaster resilient Australia, and each tells a story of building more safe, connected and prepared communities.”
