AIDR joins Global Platform in Bali, Indonesia

AIDR participated in the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction and presented AIDR's Systemic Disaster Risk Handbook to the international audience.

Last month, AIDR was represented at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2022 (GP2022) by AIDR Manager Knowledge Impact and Capability, Melissa Matthews.

Nations from across the world gathered in Bali, Indonesia to participate in ministerial roundtables, high-level dialogues, official statements, thematic sessions and midterm review plenaries.

Melissa presented AIDR’s Systemic Disaster Risk Handbook on the GP2022 Ignite Stage, and introduced the international audience to the Handbook’s 13 national principles.

More information about the event’s objectives and outcomes is available via the GP2022 Co-Chairs’ Summary. Broadly, the GP2022 addressed:

  • the implementation of the Sendai Framework, based on the experience of practitioners and policy makers at local, national, and regional levels
  • progress reported by Member States through the Sendai Framework Monitor
  • the United Nations 2022 Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction
  • other recent reports, such as the Sixth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
