Animals in emergency management

AIDR is currently developing the first Handbook that will outline nationally agreed principles and best practice for the inclusion of animals in emergency management. The new Handbook will form part of the Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook Collection.

For those looking to develop their knowledge on why animals matter in disasters, the Public Safety Institute of New Zealand is currently offering an online course on Animal Emergency Management Fundamentals. The course is available for FREE until the end of 2022.
