Attend the From Risk to Resilience Summit: Seeking leaders in disaster risk reduction
The National Recovery and Resilience Agency (NRRA) and AIDR are currently accepting expressions of interest to attend the From Risk to Resilience Summit in Sydney on 29 & 30 June. The summit will bring together leaders in disaster risk reduction as part of the development of Australia’s Second National Action Plan for Disaster Risk Reduction, featuring two days of speakers and discussions. The EOI submission period will end on 31 May. EOIs will be considered on a rolling basis, and early submissions are encouraged.
Ideal candidates are sought from across a range of sectors, and will identify with a number of the following statements:
- You are motivated to reduce the underlying causes of disaster risk, reduce harm and suffering, and champion sustainable, risk-informed development.
- You are in a position (formal or informal) to lead and influence change within your networks, and you feel a professional or moral obligation to use your position or authority to create a more disaster resilient future.
- You represent a stakeholder group or sector who will provide important contributions to reducing disaster risk in Australia across environmental, economic, social or cultural interests.
- You are well connected and will be able to advocate within and activate your networks to drive action on disaster risk reduction – including supporting the lead actions that emerge in the forthcoming National Action Plan.
Places to attend the Summit are limited, and will be allocated based on achieving diversity of representation across different stakeholder groups and sectors. Feedback will not be available to people who we are unable to accommodate at this event; however all interested stakeholders are encouraged to consider providing a submission to the Second National Action Plan Discussion Paper and completing the Reducing Disaster Risk in Australia Survey (closing 15 June) to share their views.
