Be part of the 2020 Australian Disaster Resilience Conference

AIDR is now accepting abstract submissions for its third conference event. In 2020, the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference will explore the theme ‘disaster risk reduction in action: pathways to impact’.

The abstract portal for the third Australian Disaster Resilience Conference is now open. Contributions from across various sectors are encouraged to capture the broad need and nature of disaster risk reduction in our region.

As the intensity and severity of natural hazards continues to increase, so too does the need to understand disaster risk and incorporate mitigation and risk reduction into our business, community and infrastructure models.

Hosted in Adelaide from 26-27 August, the Australian Disaster Resilience Conference will explore the theme Disaster risk reduction in action: pathways to impact.

In 2019, new frameworks and guidance materials were produced to facilitate discussion and action. These resources are now housed in the Disaster Risk Reduction Collection on the Knowledge Hub.

Next year, the conference will explore how this new agenda has been put into action, and how it can be harnessed to create positive change, now and into the future, for a more disaster resilient Australia.

AIDR encourages abstract submissions from multiple sectors to capture a range of experience and expertise, and communicate the interconnected nature of resilience building. Representatives from the private sector, all levels of government, community, not-for-profits, academia and emergency management are invited to submit.
