Developing the Disaster Giving Guidelines

When disaster strikes, donations often stream in to impacted communities from across Australia and sometimes internationally. While well intentioned, giving that does not reflect the needs of a community can hinder and overwhelm receivers. 

AIDR is partnering with Corporate2Community to develop the Disaster Giving Guidelines. The guidelines will present national principles for good disaster giving and outline best practice behaviours for future goodwill that will:

• better understand the matching of needs and wants with supply of giving initiatives
• enhance effectiveness and efficiency in disaster giving
• inform giving decisions to result in positive outcomes for both givers and receivers
• enable support for a wider number of vulnerable and in-need stakeholder groups.
