Emergency management volunteer scholarships opening soon
Round 3 of the Emergency Management Volunteer Scholarships Program will open 2 April 2018. The scholarships provide an opportunity for current emergency management volunteers to develop their skills and knowledge by undertaking vocational or tertiary education studies.
The scholarships recognise the complex service volunteers in the fire, flood, storm, road rescue, and marine rescue agencies deliver, and the high-level skills and leadership required to respond to emergency situations.
The fund will boost education development opportunities to ensure volunteers and their agencies are best equipped to prepare for and respond to disasters.
Scholarship applications are open to Australian citizens or permanent residents who are volunteers in an emergency management agency. Eligible volunteers can receive financial support to access accredited qualifications in emergency and disaster management fields. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander volunteers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Volunteers may receive up to $12,000 for completing vocational education and training and up to $25,000 for higher education.
