Pandemic Collection for disaster resilience

A new Pandemic Collection is now available on the AIDR Knowledge Hub, providing useful insights into health emergency and pandemic planning in the context of COVID-19.

The new collection explores the architecture behind pandemic planning and response, bringing together a range of national and state plans as relevant to the disaster resilience and emergency management sector.

It also features past pandemic events in Australia, peer reviewed research from the Australian Journal of Emergency Management and international thinking on pandemic and disaster resilience.

It will benefit the disaster resilience community who are seeking to further understand and contribute to health emergency management in Australia during the coronavirus pandemic.

Health and disaster management Knowledge-into-Action briefs

The Pandemic Collection is complemented by new Knowledge-into-Action briefs that provide critical information on Australia’s health and disaster arrangements. The new briefs feature insights on:

  • concepts and principles of health and disaster management
  • planning for pandemic.

The Knowledge-into-Action briefs are drawn from the Health and Disaster Management Handbook.

These resources provide extra context for large scale pandemic response and note some of the physical, psychosocial and economic impacts and challenges that health hazards like COVID-19 have on communities.
